Thomas and his SUGG

Thomas first met SUGG at work. Which is not surprising since he works at the Fietsersbond (Cyclists’ Union). Fred entered a meeting with a prototype and Thomas was instantly fascinated.

I asked Fred to borrow his SUGG and rode it around Brussels. I was hooked and didn’t want to give it back. So, I bought one!

The perfect swap for my golden oldie

I had two bikes. A longtail, which is practical for the kids, and my beautiful old bike, which I’ve had since my communion. But that last one needed too many repairs. That’s something I’m not good at keeping up with.

Now with my SUGG, the upkeep is less of a hassle. Tightening the chain is super easy. And if something is more difficult, I can pop into the workshop to ask for help.

It’s a very practical thing to have

I live in a small apartment, so space optimisation is key. A little bike like SUGG is easy to store in the basement and carry upstairs. Even if you already have multiple bikes, it doesn’t take up much more space.

If I don’t feel like leaving it on the street, I can scoop up my SUGG and take it inside almost everywhere.

Also, I don’t have a car but sometimes use carsharing. Now I can ride my SUGG to the Cambio location and store the bike in the backseat. A regular bike doesn’t combine that easily with other means of transportation.

My go-to for quickly moving around the city

On a regular morning, I’ll get my SUGG from the basement and sprint through the city to our Fietsersbond offices. Going from meeting to meeting around the city, hop on my SUGG again. Because it’s so agile, I can easily weave through traffic on busy streets.

We’re a happy community on two wheels

A SUGG is super recognisable, which makes it extra fun. When you encounter another one, it’s like an instant connection. And when people don’t know it, they will always ask, “Hey, what bike is that?”. It’s an awesome conversation starter that creates a nice feeling of community.

When crossing another SUGG in the street, we’ll always say hi or wave, just like bus drivers do!

If you’re still doubting, I would say, just go and try it! Pass by the workshop in Brussels and you’ll know immediately if SUGG is for you.
